Why did I name my tumor Arnold? Why not? I call him Arnold the wannabe Arthritis. Basically for the last 5 years my request from my primary doctor to see an Orthopedic doctor about my knee were denied and my complaints were dismissed as, you guessed it, Arthritis. It turns out that that diagnosis was total BS!!
I have six children ranging in ages from 11 to 1. Cancer is such a scary word to a 6 year old, especially Stage III Synovial Sarcoma. So we call it Arnold. It helps lighten the mood and whenever I start to have pain we just casually say that Arnold is throwing his usual fit.
So far my treatment includes Radiation (25 rounds) and surgery. It seems the surgery is going to be intense. I'm not going to have "just" a knee replacement I'm going to have a prosthetic knee completely grafted into my femur and tibia.... OUCH!!! The docs have also given me the "option" to do 6 rounds of Chemo, but given that the chances are relatively the same for Arnold's return I have declined the Chemo (for now).
So now you know why I have named my tumor "Arnold". At my last Radiation session I'm going to twist out of the hospital doing my "happy dance" all the way to my car!!!
