14 Day IFOS Treatment for SS Metastised to lungs

14 day IFOS chemo regiment-- has any one tried this one? I had IFOS and doxi when I was first diagnosed, but I had the tumors removed prior to having the chemo so I really did not know if IFOS did anything. I would be interested to hear the outcome or experiences from all of you!

My husband had Ifos and Doxi together for secondaries which occurred in September. This successfully made then shrink considerably. But more secondaries came up recently and this regime has had no effect on them. The specialists are puzzled and at the moment have stopped chemo after the 6th of 6 sessions and are waiting for two months before rescanning and deciding what to use then, either an experimental drug or Trabectedin.

The longest regiment I had was 9 consecutive days (with a total of 28.9g infused) but I did read about the 14 day regiment here:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20589638

Are you still treated in pediatrics?

Hi... I am treated in Peds at Chicago and adult at Dana Farber... best of both worlds! Did the 9 day work for you... were you sick a lot.... did the cancer come right back afterwards... did you loose your hair? I just don't know if the loss of quality of life is worth it.

Hi... thanks for the reply.. it is always helpful. I hope the Trabectedin works.. I did try that already and it did not for me, but there are plenty of people it does work for. It is worth a shot and the side effects are not as bad as the Ifos/doxi -- sending your family prayers and good wishes. Look into the Frizzle thing in Paris... you are in the UK so you can get in... it may not be for now, but later if the others don't work out. Keep your eye on that one.

I did loose my hair but it came back curly and beautiful ;-) I didn't get too sick but very tired. The regiment did slow me down a lot and made me feel like a vegetable. It decreased my tumor's density (on the scan you could see the brightness of the nodules go down). My nodules were slow growing to start with though and it is my impression that this drug works better if the cancerous cell are active and fast dividing...

Thanks for sharing with me. I have appts today to talk to some doctors about phase 1 trials and option and then I fly to T-Gen in AZ to talk to some folks out there and see what they think. I will know on March 15th if the current regiment of inhibitors is working. I just want the next plan lined up and decided -- just in case. Dr. Morgan did not seem to confident that what I am on now will work. I hope he is wrong. (Votrient and Rapamune).
