but unfortunately... my latest CT scan showed two new spots in the pleural cavity.
Waiting to have a CT assisted needle biopsy done on the spots. :(
Are the new spots where the original tumor was?
Basically they are in the same place as the original tumor. I was told that the new spots are at the back of my rib cage, and the original tumor was on the lower lobe of my left lung.
Rather then biopsy why don't they just remove the spots, if its nothing its out and if its something its out. That's what my Dr. did with me when I had my first recurrance in 12/2010. I was a 0.07cm nodule in my left lung.
Sally, I was wondering the same thing. I'm guessing that it has something to do with the way the medical system operates in Canada, but I'll have to ask my doctor to find out why they want to do a biopsy.

So, I saw my surgeon yesterday to get more information on what the next plan of action is. Looks like I have more than "two spots" showing up on my latest CT scan. I have two 2cm masses growing on/next to my heart, and three other lesions that seem to be attached to the pleural lining at the rib cage.
I asked what was the point of having a CT assisted biopsy, and was told that it is protocol for the BC Cancer Agency. I've decided to refuse having the biopsy done because it seems rather pointless to me. For lack of a better analogy, it's like running out of gas in your car, and then taking it to the mechanic to see what the problem is.
I'm hoping that my radiologist/oncologist will see me regardless, but if not then I guess I'm kind of on my own.
Has anyone heard of any benefits from alternative treatment centers in Mexico, such as 'Oasis of Hope,' The Immunity Therapy Clinic(Dr. Bautista),' or the Gerson Institute?
I don't see the point of the CT assisted biopsy either. It could even make matters worse.
Luke, i also live in an environment of government paid health, which is a bit different, but you still have patient rights and the ability to have a second opinion. I think that this it is fair to say that this is not best practice for sarcoma treatment and maybe you could challenge them with this. Another approach is to wait and see if the spots grow and if they do presumably this will be sufficient evidence to remove these correctly
Personally I am not supportive of alternative treatment, ofter long in promises and short on evidence. I guess though its what you are comfortable with and if you think its an environment that will help you. Rather than this why not spend your money on a specialist sacoma facilty in the states.
