Cabozantinib

Anybody in the cabozantinib trial?

https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01755195

This drug is a dual inhibitor of MET and VEGFR.

I just started this trial a few days ago. It's out of NIH in Bethesda,Maryland. There are sarcoma patients on the trial and one other synovial sarcoma patient is on the trial. They are currently recruiting for this trial. This drug has been around for awhile. It was used for thyroid cancer and I think melanoma. It's a phase 2 trial. When I first read about this drug, it reminded me of votrient which a lot of synovial sarcoma patients' are taking. The side effects are similar to votrient side effects, hair can turn white, tiredness, nausea. Blood pressure may increase with this drug so blood pressure must be taken twice a day.Votrient is a single inhibitor while cabozantinib is a dual inhibitor drug. My thinking was that votrient seems to work for a while in controlling tumor growth, and then doesnt work anymore. Since this is a dual inhibitor it may make the drug work longer, hopefully? Will update the group on how it is working. Will have a scan in 7 weeks to determine results so far.

Good luck Mary!

Hi Mary - was considering this drug for my daughter. Would you mind sharing how you are doing on it? Thank you. All the best, Trish
