A hysterectomy is the second most common surgery among women in the United States (see http://1.usa.gov/1dPbIkj). Unfortunately, I do not have a similar number for other countries. But, I assume large numbers of hysterectomies are being done in many nations. It discusses issues that can arise when employing uterine morcellation and the potential for the spreading of leiomyosarcoma.
