Dietary Supplement For Cancer patients

I am mentioning three alternate treatment, which are more like food supplements for cancer patients. I would like to know if anybody has tried or know someone who has used any of these products and outcome of these products.

I am enclosing brief details of these products( Fermented Wheat Germ Extract,

Graviola, Flaxseed Oil & Cottage Cheese Diet).

1.Fermented wheat germ extract (FWGE), also called fermented wheat germ powder (FWGP), is a concentrated extract of wheat germ derived from the germ (endosperm, or seed) of the wheat plant. FWGE, which was invented in the early '90s in Hungary, differs from ordinary wheat germ in that it is fermented with baker's yeast to concentrate biologically-active benzoquinones.

FWGE is available commercially and is sold under the trade name Avemar. In the U.S., the product is classified as a dietary supplement and is marketed as Ave by American BioSciences, Inc. (Blauvelt, NY). Avemar is manufactured in Hungary, by Biropharma Ltd. (a division of Biromedicina Corp.), where it is approved as a dietary food for cancer patients.

Human clinical trials

A non-blinded, non-randomized, open-label clinical trial investigated the effects of FWGE on colorectal cancer. The FWGE treatment group included 66 patients who were already under treatment with standard care (i.e., chemotherapy and/or radiation) and elected to receive FWGE for 6 months in addition. The control group consisted of 104 patients who elected to receive standard care alone without FWGE. The rate of progression-related events was significantly lower in the FWGE group versus the control group (3.0% vs 17.3%, respectively), as was the incidence of new metastases (7.6% vs 23.1%) and mortality (12.1% vs 31.7%). Significant improvements in progression-free and overall survival probability were also noted in the FWGE group. However, the authors reported that, because the subjects were not randomly allocated to treatment, there were significant differences in the characteristics of the two groups at baseline (prior to FWGE therapy); namely, the control group was significantly older (66.1 vs. 61.7 years), had a greater proportion of patients who were receiving radiotherapy (53.8% vs. 27.3%) and a much shorter time interval from diagnosis to study entry (1.1 months vs. 11.2 months).[3] In an open-label, non-randomized, non-blinded pilot trial in pediatric cancer patients with various solid cancers, the incidence of chemotherapy-related febrile neutropenia was lower in patients treated with FWGE (30 episodes, 24.8%) than in control patients (46 episodes, 43.4%).

2.Graviola(Soursop) (Annona muricata) is a broadleaf, flowering, evergreen tree native to Mexico, Cuba, Central America, the Caribbean and northern South America: Colombia,Brazil, Peru, and Venezuela. Soursop is also native to sub-Saharan African countries that lie within the tropics. Today, it is also grown in some areas of Southeast Asia as well as in some Pacific islands. It was most likely brought from Mexico to the Philippines by way of the Manila-Acapulco galleon trade.[citation needed] It is in the same genus as the chirimoya and the same family as the pawpaw

Health benefits

Nutritionally, the fruit is high in carbohydrates, particularly fructose. The fruit also contains significant amounts of vitamin C, vitamin B1, and vitamin B2.[citation needed]The fruit, seeds, and leaves have a number of herbal medicinal uses among indigenous peoples of regions where the plant is common.

There is evidence indicating that the fruit's extracts selectively inhibit the growth of human breast cancer cells by downregulating expression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in vitro and in a mouse model,[3] but the effect has not been studied in humans

3.Budwig protocol

The Budwig protocol (or Budwig diet) is an anti-cancer diet developed by Budwig in 1952. The diet is rich in flaxseed oil, mixed with cottage cheese and milk, and meals high in fruits, vegetables, and fiber. The diet also avoided sugar, animal fats, salad oil, meats, butter, and especially margarine. She claimed that within 3 months, some patients on this diet had smaller tumors, some had no tumors left, and all felt better

I have heard a lot of success stories on flax seed oil and cottage cheese. I personally do the Alkaline diet. during one of my chemo treatments I met a breast cancer fighter who told me about two of her friends. Both were diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. they both opted out of traditional treatment and did the alkaline diet. they are both now cancer fre for over 10 yrs. I also introduced it to young brain cancer patient who was only given 6 months to live. she does the diet and even bought a alkaline water filtration system. it has been over a year and no signs of new growth. pretty amazing!

I am taking cottage cheese and flaxseed oil as a supplement only. Can you elaborate a little more about alkaline diet?

I actually heard of the graviola (soursop) and also called guanabana. Very difficult to find and I read it has 10 x's the potency as adrianmycin. I found the nector for guanabana, but it has too much sugar, 35mg.

The Guanabana tree grows in south florida, I have 2 in my back yard and after reading about it's affects I'm making tea with the leaves and tuwigs, lets hope it helps. If your interested let me know I can mail you some leaves and tuwigs

A few years ago, I read this article about ganoderma lucidum and green tea:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17332936

I decided to try the combination as that ganoderma lucidum mushroom is sold in Korean stores close to me. I boil the mushroom and use the water to make green tea. That didn't prevent my SS from coming back but I still consume this mixture since I found it has a relaxing/ peace of mind enhancing effect (may be all placebo?).

Sally,

I can't believe you have this amazing gem in your backyard! I went on my search last week to locate guanabana in the markets and I was informed that it was just too expensive to import. I know that Govia has it frozen in pulp form, but I could not even find it. I live in Northern California, so our climate is too dry and cold to even try and grow it. I truly appreciate your mailing leaves and twigs. Provide me with your address and I will send you postage for one of those priority mail boxes. My e-mail is ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■.

Look forward to hearing from you. Keep Hope Alive!
