Does anyone have experience with proton therapy radiation?

Was wondering if anyone had luck with proton therapy. I can’t find anyone on the other cancer sites, but I know it’s popular and people are doing it.

My husband had this type of therapy and it did not work for him. Electron radiation therapy was administered on his intial tumor site and the cancer did not come back there. It metasticized to other areas and we are currently fighting for his life with everything we have. He was diagnosed in March 2000. I think it’s definitely worth consideration though because everyone is different. Most people that have taken ifosfamide were nauseated, couldn’t eat, had mouth sores and threw up. My husband didn’t even need the anti-nausea meds. How many treatments are we talking about?

I just finished with proton therapy. I had 34 treatments to the margins where the tumor was before surgery. I will have to look into this electron therapy.

Hello! My name is Brad and I work at one of 9 proton facilities in the USA. I cannot speak for the other centers but the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute treats Synovial Sarcomas. You can find out more information about proton therapy through our website www.floridaproton.org or through the national website www.proton-therapy.org To give you the basics of proton therapy take a look at this video http://www.floridaproton.org/cancer-treatment/principles-proton-therapy.html

Good luck in whatever treatment you choose.

To comment on the other post, electron therapy is not the same as proton therapy. Electrons cannot penetrate as deep into the body as protons and electrons deposit more radiation at the skin serface than protons.
