Dr. Brown specializes in repairing nerve damage and restoring function after nerve trauma of the upper and lower extremities and is a pioneer in a surgical technique referred to as a "nerve transfer.":

May be this new "nerve transfer" surgical technique could be used in cases where the tumor is too close to the nerve?
would this nerve tranfer be any help where the sciatic nerve has been burnt through by the radiation therapy?
I think you can contact the center on their website (second link) and ask the question. I found the article about this procedure but I am really unfamiliar with it. My understanding is that they take a less important nerve to fix a more important one. The feasibility may depend on whether there is a usable nerve close to the damaged nerve. And it looks like the procedure is used for extreme cases (when there is paralysis).
thanks Elodie, I will do that
