End of the line?

Its very grim here at the moment.. the day started off with us having an appointment to speak to the oncologist about colins next bout od chemo which was meant to be a cocktail of gemzar/taxol.. has anyone had this or do you have any feedback???

Doc says it is doubtful this will work and that at best there is a 5% chance that it will stabilize the beast, we have also been informed that colin has weeks/months left. to say we are totally numb and in total shock is the understatement of the year.. i have many questions nd he is adament that he doesnt want to go anywhere, i cant absorb the fact that in a matter of months i could be a widow after 13 months of marriage to my best friend

Is it taxol or taxotere? Usually gemzar (gemcitabine) is given with taxotere (docetaxel). It works better for leiomyosarcoma than synovial sarcoma. But may be he can get a few months of stable disease? His case is very unusual to start with so who knows?

Don't focus on the grim future that has been announced. Focus on the present. Colin is still alive and you don't want to waste time being depressed about what might happen. You want to live fully the time you can still spend together. He could be disease free and die tomorrow from a car accident. This disease teaches us not to take life for granted...

I am trying alternative treatment in Mexico and complementary treatment In the US. Please e-mail me if you would like to know more. I came to Mexico because a friend was told he had 30 days and after this treatment it’s been about 60 and he is now stable and tumor is smaller. Hoping it works on me

Elodie it’s taxotere that they are offering but he has been told it won’t work missmya what r these treatments?

The anticancer program itself includes, but is not limited to, Laetrile,
DMSO, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, antioxidants, etc. We
combine all this with whole-body hyperthermia (8 sessions in 4 weeks),
hyperbaric oxygen (8 sessions in 4 weeks), Extracorporeal photopheresis
(where we obtain certain type of white cells to develop Autologous
Dendritic cell vaccines that patients will take home and inject
subcutaneously for 6 months) done twice. Live-cell therapy is given to
provide immune stimulation, connective tissue support and fibroblasts for
body repair. We also do the Alpha-2010 Spa System which provides heat
therapy, lymphatic massage and detoxification. IPT utilizing low doses of
chemotherapy are also offered in my clinic for those who request it,
although by using DMSO we achieve exactly the same purpose but there is no
need to induce glucose changes to the patient. Stem-cells are available
and used whenever necessary.

I copied and pasted what the doctor sent me before I came down here. I will keep you updated on my next CT and let you know how it goes. However, I can give you the doctors contact info if you would like to contact him prior to that.

Sorry about all the comments but I am also taking low dose naltrexone. A doctor in the states prescribed it to me. I wasn’t given a good prognosis so I figured I could give it a better fight than the standard US treatment. I tolerated chemo ok and improved a bit but I don’t want to die from cycles and cycles of chemotherapy

Steph!!!! You have a friend here in the states!! I have been praying to Archangel Michael a lot these past few days and I will add you and Colin to my 'discussions' with Him. Praying for guidance...strength...comfort...and miracles....xoxoxo

Hello,

I had Gemzar for my lungs mets, and it made them desappear in 6 months ! I had a serious problem of neutropenias and aplasia, so I had to stop it unhappily.

I think you can hope some benefit for your husband. Don;t give up !

Anna

My positive thoughts are with you. STAY STRONG…

I heard positive things about that cocktail. I’m on high dose ifex and that is the next option for me. Prayers and positive thoughts your way!!!

Thanks for the well wishes, Colin was in gemzar before and it done nothing for him so I am delighted to hear it is working for someone xx he is still on the cocktail but he hasn’t had any scans so we have no idea what is going on, another tumor appeared on his leg and he is in constant agony plus his breathing is getting worse but he is still mobile still very much with it and most importantly still with me, Pallitive care seem to have different opinions one says he won’t see Xmas because he was gone down hill, another says she hasn’t seen much change in him so I don’t no what to think, I’m not a nurse but I do no my husband and I honestly think he will be here cause he is such a fighter, I will continue to pray and beg god that this chemo will do something it’s all we have left
