Hi,
Has anyone tried Yondelis for Synovial Sarcoma as 2nd Line along with liposomal doxorubicin. My father is trying it in India as his first line did not work. also does anyone know whether Yondelis has a patient access program?

In the US, where the drug is not approved yet, there has been such an access program in the past but I am not sure if it is the case anymore because the company trials for ovarian cancer were discontinued and now they started a trial for liposarcoma and leiomyosarcoma.
I tried Yondolis, but not with doxocurbicin. It is still being offered in the US for patient access, and I believe it will continue to be. http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/study/NCT00210665?show_locs=Y#locn
Dr. Charlson from Medical College of Wisconsin thinks it will continue to have a patient access program for Sarcoma patients that do not have liposarcoma or leiomyosarcoma. Patients with these Sarcomas who are not already receiving Yondolis trough the patient access program would only be eligible for a new study that will begin soon I believe.
Unfortunately this drug did not work out for me, but I heard that it has done a lot of good for many Synovial Sarcoma patients.
Hi Madhu,
I tried Yondelis -- 2 rounds. Unfortunately it did not stop the disease progression. I have respitory side effects from the drug -- (bronchitis the first round and pneumonia in both lungs the second round). Everyone is different... I hope it works for your father. -- There is a clinical trial for this drug in Milwaukee, WI at Froedert Hospital

Madhu,
My wife is currently on her second round of Yondelis through the expanded access program in New Jersey. The side effects from the first round were difficult to manage, but things have been much easier so far this round. She'll be having scans in a couple of weeks, and until then we're staying optimistic that the improvement in her symptoms is indicative of activity against her tumors.
Good luck,
Danny
I have taken four cycles of chemo with Yondelis as 3rd line chemo for synovial sarcoma. It is being given as single medicine. Progress was reviewed after IInd and IVth cycle and it seems that Yondelis is able to control the disease. Next week I will be given Vth cycle. I am being treated in India.

I have synovial sarcoma and I completed 64 rounds (almost 5 years) in the Yondelis study before it stopped working. During that period, I had a very mixed response to the drug. I experienced some shrinkage, but mainly stability for the 9 tumors throughout my body. After that period I went on Dacarbazine, Gemzar/Taxotere/Doxorubicin, Ifosamide, and now I'm on Votrient which seems to be working.
Best of luck to you,
Gina
